A poem I wrote for my mom when I was in jail

Behind these walls

My downfall, my weakness too,
got me behind these walls, so far away from you,
at my fingertips but still out of my reach,
if only I had listened the days you'd preach,
I didn't care that it was for my own good,
I was a kid I assumed you never understood,
so here I sit just watching my days waste away,
inside these brick walls where millions have prayed,
begging to a creator they find comfort in,
but who can save you twice when you know you'll sin again....
