I was always told to love my hometown,
but does a grown man love his cradle?
Does a man grow fond of boot camp
when he is learning to become a soldier?
why should I love the place
that was nothing more than a prison to me?
I do not grow more fond of it
as the time passes.
I do not miss the corn fields
or the sad broken faces.
All I remember is a dust bin
and the trash that came with it
and the gold that got swept up
along with all the garbage
Home is where the heart is,
but what if there is more to it
than just where your family is from?
I will always love my family,
but the cradle's not my home.
No, the cradle is not my home.
