Cold Snap

The recent mild spell
has gone, pushed away
by an encroaching easterly cold front
all the way from Siberia.
Freezing , dry air, a knife of a breeze,
Winter slips back
creating statues of trees in bud.
Layers are added to protect
thermally challenged
Inhabitants. Birds frozen out
their drinking holes turned to concrete,
roads turned to glass. Power demand
through the roof,
-I can’t feel it.
Already numb, heart frozen
since you took away
the warmth of your love.
