On a wall in Spring

In this too-big town we lose each other.
A city is a spiral-towered pity
on pity and I lose you.
Extra light for hours
of loss on loss and we pity
ourselves, we search out,
inside calf hugging boots,
with gloves not yet removed
from the depths of our bags.
Not trusting the smoky clouds
to stay uncondensed.
We whisper Spring
into the ears of our lovers,
and we plan park days
and I go to your old house
and wonder when I stopped being trustworthy.
