To a lost soul

Coastal Longing

She walked along the pebbled beach
The wind racing through her hair.
Her arms stretched, she tried to reach
But found there was nothing there.

She cried out for her love in vain
She would not come
She would not dare.
The waves crashed the rocks in pain
An echo of a soul laid bare.

She laid her body upon the sand
The pebbles scattered her breasts and thighs.
She held a note
Palmed in her hand
As she waited for the tide to rise.

She felt the icy water's touch
Running through her
Swirling round.
No more her love a burden to carry
She drifts towards the peace now found.
