Reaching for the Moon

Where the sky
Is full of light
From stars that shine
Through the darkest night.
My love has left our bed too soon
I see her reaching for the moon.

Her skin aglow
From the beams that beat
Above and below
To her feet.
Dancing
She steps to a silent tune
I see her reaching for the moon.

Her eyes transfixed
I watched until
She began to climb the window-sill.
Too late to catch
My love in flight
Whose arms outstretched
Fell from sight.
My love had left our bed too soon
No longer reaching for the moon.
