The Quiet of Snow

Each white flake
Is a gap between words
Silences layering over sound.

As the gaps extend
White spaces widen
Downy breaths lying lightly
On common ground.

The dust of years
Accrues in moments
Time made tangible.

Hush upon hush
Served seamlessly
A noise-absorbing cushion
A respite to hearing.

Stillness so absolute
I can hear each flake’s fall.
