Clouds above us, feet in sand.
You toddle beside me clutching my hand.
Bucket sloshes with sea-water full.
We duck to avoid a screeching gull.
Abandoned briefly is our spade.
Alongside castles we have made.
Adorned with flags, pebbles and shells.
We pour in the water and our moat swells.
Toes scrunch in the sand beneath.
Eating our picnic gets grit in our teeth.
Glancing back see our footsteps collide.
What a glorious day spent at the seaside.
