quarter

It's hard to hear it;

The age in conversation,

The arthritic tones of adult words

splintered topics of paint chipped innocence

And when you start to see the statistics

In the people you know and love

The strains of age become heavier

The hideous grey toothed realities of knowing

the 1 in 4 girl, who thought about his career

Over her own safety.

The 1 in 4 girl who was persuaded to accept a "sorry" like a conviction.

I wonder out of how many men would there be one

who can rape a girl

And not get prosecuted.

I wonder how many times women cover up

The shit men do, to protect them.
