Read introduction

My parents recently celebrated 53 years of marriage. I hope someday I'll be blessed in the same way. I wrote this poem with them in mind.

Somewhere Along the Way

Pz-avatarby Rod Loche14 Jul 2020

At Love’s first spark
I bare my heart
In all I do and say
And passion speech
Does ignite each
Event of private play

Now days gone by
Our fires die
And passion fades away
And suns and moons
Did rob our swoons
Somewhere along the way

We pour no wine
and pay no mind
To beauty nor to brawn
No soft romance
No tender dance
When we are played our song

But a flicker still burns
And the heart still yearns
To rescue love’s delight
No beast nor man
Could thwart my plan
To kiss your lips tonight
