The Rose in Winter

Meganmnmby M. N. Mattingly 02 Aug 2017

The Rose lives not in winter,
For it is a gentle thing,
Its soft red petals are made to dance
In the winds of a warming spring

But the rose does seem to come in winter
For at least a couple a day,
Showing us the goodness of life
And making clear the way

What then is this rose that sings love’s song
And tells of Christ’s pure birth?
It is the love that people feel to show the season’s worth

It is the joy that comes to heart when our dear Savior is born
And it is the most divine redemption
That comes each Christmas morn
