I am the seeds beneath the snow,
I am the silence that connects the words,
I am the river's singing flow,
I am the freefall of the birds.
I am the daisy in the grass,
I am the tree that braves the wind
and like the tree, I last -
I'm the vow I won't rescind.
But most of all I am the flame -
I burn with ember and with feather
I might be wounded, sad and lame
but fires knit my parts together.
Inside myself I found the blaze -
My thousand deaths, they were the price,
I am the fire you can't erase -
I am the phoenix that will rise.
