Fishing For Poetry.

I have inside me this deep, creative well
where the surface looks like hurried little elves
but from the depth the words just write themselves
and in the sand lurks every story I could tell.

Here poems swim, like glowing little fish
dancing, swirling in and out of sight
and maybe, when I cast my hook just right
I may catch one, like a prayer, or a wish.

I have within me this great and rare treasure
its glittering in the water draws my eye
an endless stream of words is flitting by
in waters whose depths I'll never measure.

I have inside me this deep, creative well
where the surface moves like hurried little elves
and the poem-fish will reveal themselves
as the very next stories I will tell.
