Upon the Tragedy of Humanity.

We keep waging wars, though we
know full-well the outcome -
millions of deaths, lives snuffed out
- for no good reason -and forever gone,
and left with questions and piles of corpses
except the bankers, no one has won.

We keep our homeless
wandering the streets,
deemed too lowly to be
offered shelter and clean sheets,
while in stunning mansions
greed grows like strangling weeds.

Profits before peace
and human rights for sale,
criminals walk free
and innocents in jail,
compassion out of fashion
and empathy grown stale.

People's lives are
dragged out in abject misery,
so many forced to live
in obscene poverty,
but our indifference to it all
is the biggest tragedy.
