I left the city where I was born
to become a stranger in this place,
looking at your unfamiliar face
I found your streets unbearably forlorn.
Your buildings reach to an astounding height,
half of the city-heart was built anew
to replace what was bombed in World War II
and provide us with a new, enduring sight.
But now, when through your streets I roam
(and I never would've thought it at the start!)
it seems you are winning my reluctant heart,
you become my 'home away from home.'
