Read introduction

I wrote this poem for women's rights for all women, everywhere. Though it can be very difficult, it is time to speak up, and stand up.

Letter For My Sisters.

Dsc02480by Michelle Seyner01 Jul 2014

For my Sisters who are sold
and exposed to horrors untold -

For my Sisters in every country
who are robbed of their sovereignty -

I will try and write a little louder,
I will stand, stand up a little prouder.

For my Sisters, robbed of their future and their voice,
whose life unfolds without a choice -

For my Sisters in a faraway nation,
kidnapped for wanting an education -

I will speak up just a little louder,
I will stand, stand up a little prouder.

For my Sisters of every country and ethnicity
who are the victims of misogyny -

For my Sisters, who are, robbed of their autonomy,
found raped and dead and hanging from a tree -

I will try and speak a little louder,
I will stand, stand up a little prouder.

For my Sisters with a forgotten name or face
whose absence leaves a gaping space -

For my Sisters facing relentless violence
they are forced to endure in silence -

I will try and speak a little louder,
I will stand, stand up a little prouder.

For all my Sisters, everywhere
I will try and speak a little louder,
I will stand, stand up a little prouder.
