Listening to the sounds of the summer backyard

The cooing is a steady percussive beat,
Holding the garden symphony together.
Between the staccato and arpeggios of magpies and parrots,
The grey box eucalyptus is assisted in conducting by the gentle easterly breeze.

The lemon scent wafts through,
As the feathery boa of French lavender has her chorus.
The crescendo of the trucks on the hill, a bass line
To the definitive squawk of the octogenarian sulphur crested cockatoo.
