Speaks to my fear of romantic commitment

Walls

I build them up while wishing to tear them down
You beckon for my heart as you stand there on the ground.
You ask for a rope to climb so I cast one down.

You begin to climb- climbing higher
But the rope is merely twine- you cling to desire.
It has become obvious now that this flame is only a short term fire.

You scaled the walls, you're at the top.
It's much too late to ask that you stop - but honestly, you're better off on the ground.

I know it's time to cut you loose before my rope becomes a noose. Please be careful, it's a long way down.
