Industrial background radiation
defines a timbered house
Soon to be consumed
by airborne fires;

An avenue runs through the snow
between the tsunamis,
to colliery spoil
and giant chimneys

Pointing to kinships behind wars,
towards railway arches spanning
a new objectivity
killed before the bombs fell.
