A Different Sky

The charge that she felt
As their fingers touched
Was a light shining
Into the well-deep darkness
Of a grieving soul.

They might kiss,
Their entwined shadows
Cast by a sun setting
Into a limpid sea
She will never know;

They might embrace
Under a different sky,
Beneath stars that fall glorious
From a clear night
She will never see.
