NOCTURNE

NOCTURNE

At each sound
As the notes spread,
She let her sorrows
Fall from her skin
Like jewels.
Lying there
In silence
In a garment
Of purest white;
Shining in the darkness,
Tears flowing
From her eyes.

I placed my hands
On her chest,
Felt the flowers
Blooming there.
Red and white petals
Opening in the night
Like diamonds,
Silver and gold,
Shimmering from her mouth
Like breath
From an
Angel's wings.

In the silence
After the music
I felt her stir beside me,
Arms moving across me
Sighing for
A golden night.
Old clothes lay about her,
New clothes waiting for the day.
A bird sang
With the morning;
Soft step
On the way.
