FLICKER

lovemaking by candlelight
we closed the door halted time
spread out across the bed

let the world wait
atmosphere of a dream

and when we were done
the room lit by crimson light
flames flickering like lazy eyes
our moods slipped into indigo
the shaman's hour as we
lay side by side entwined
our weary limbs exhausted
like dancers

you sighed the feast of our bodies
still on our lips the purr of our skin
contentedly playing supine
on the bed like panthers

I looked at you your face
in repose and breathed deep
your arms caressed me I held
you gazing at your peace
and touched you as if they
were not real your lips
your eyes
your tears
