BYZANTINE

Me_cafe_rougeby Jake Murray21 Sep 2014

BYZANTINE

Your eyes are souls;
in them I see oceans,
rivers, streams.
Your voice dances
in my mind like music,
and I am content
to sit here, listening.

The murmur of the room
recedes, the noise of diners,
and I am alone
here with you, dreaming.
If I could, I would kiss you.
I imagine the feel of your
body in my arms.

I am lost. The evening
ends. You walk into
the night leaving me
with reverie. The bus
arrives in the drivelling
rain, but the light inside
warms me. I breathe.
