MEMORY

Suddenly the garden
Was alive with dance. Under
The trees the air was moving,
Forming and reforming. I felt myself
Suddenly everywhere, playing with the
Grass, the birds, the leaves as they sang
In the hot air.
Thoughts lay before me.
It was as if someone stood and spoke
Of everything I had already known but
Forgotten. An old man smiling with
The eyes of a child brushed my mind then
Left me, alone in the shade. I was young.
The moment passed into
Memory.
But the echo dances even
In the street, between the noise,
Here, now.
