Double Exposure

Robert_bio_photo_1___version_3__1_by Robert L. Ferrier15 Sep 2014

My salad looked too good to eat
so I grabbed the Sony digital
climbed a stepstool
and framed the bowl
against the paisley tablecloth.

The display screen loved the colors
baby red oak leaf lettuce
red and green Romaines
Lolla Rosa, Tango, Radicchio
red chard, Fuji apples

parsley and carrots flush
in the insolence of cilantro and dill
a cacophony of scarlet
yellows and greens
glistening in vinaigrette.

I leaned out looked down
sucked in my stomach
pressed the shutter button
exploding the scene
in too much white

overexposed
as I turned to stare
at the maw of a camera lens
third eye in the face of my wife
shooting me shooting my supper.
