Outside the night swells with calm,
just the buzz made by the lamps,
traffic lights change red to green
in absence, empty, deserted streets,
so the cats tiptoeing cautious
look back over their shoulders
wary, and me looking out the window
while the dog snores, twitches, dreams.
Smoking my fag, drinking last drops,
watching the plastic bag dance, fall free,
hoping the world's turning would cease,
just for tonight so this scene lasts
more, limitless still, eternal peace;
O,’ I implore you a little longer please.
